Miami Based Yoga & Nutrition Company launches "Virtual" Holistic Cleanse

Miami Based Yoga & Nutrition Company launches "Virtual" Holistic Cleanse
By Alessandrina Lerner, The South Beach Detox
www.thesouthbeachdetox.com
Dated: Feb 11, 2011
The rise in degenerative and stress-related ailments and diseases has health experts and people all over the world looking for permanent solutions to this epidemic.  The South Beach Detox, a Miami-based leader in health & wellness programs which offers its services worldwide is sharing its knowledge on how to remain healthy, prevent illness, and find long-lasting happiness.
Miami, FL (Feb 7, 2011) The past 2 years have seen tremendous interest and emphasis on integrating a preventative approach to healthcare.  As the first lady, Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" initiative progresses within public schools, proper nutrition and exercise remain at the heart of its successful implementation. To attain the objectives set forth by the Obama Administration and achieve permanent changes, mentalities need to change and people must become aware of the direct relationship between their nutrition and exercise regimen and their state of health.  The South Beach Detox has made it its primary objective to support this reform and provide an affordable and non-invasive detox program that can benefit as many people as possible. Both parents and children need to be educated on the value of health and how to achieve it if sustainable changes are to take place.

The South Beach Detox has integrated yoga, breathing, mantra chanting and meditation to a line of powerful nutritional and cleansing products in order to offer the most effective and powerful holistic cleanse possible. Further, the pioneering company is now offering the detox as a 'virtual' program which can be done in the privacy of your home.  Not only has this made  The South Beach Detox very convenient for people who cannot spend 4 days in-studio but it has also cut down the cost to a third of what you would pay for it before.  In-studio and private options remain available for those clients who prefer group settings for motivation or need the support and counseling of an expert by their side throughout.

While The South Beach Detox primarily aims at achieving long-lasting health objectives and developing a more balanced and healthy lifestyle, the benefits both short-term and long-term are multi-dimensional and far-ranging. On the physical front, you'll lose weight, feel lighter, more energetic, boost your immune system in order to prevent the on-set of disease or be better equipped to rid your body of it.  Mentally, you'll be at peace and worry-free; having balanced the energy in your body and replaced old cells with new ones that have attained a perfect state of balance through optimum nutrition. Emotionally, you'll be feeling cleansed and open as you let go of the old feelings and emotions that often keep you feeling a slave to your past.  Spiritually, you'll feel more aware than ever and clear about your priorities and intention for your life.

While our modern and busy lifestyles may leave us feeling like we don't have time for a detox or simply to just relax and reflect on ourselves, it's essential that we shift our perspective, re-prioritize our life and realize the essential values of health and well-being for without them we cannot support other objectives and endeavors.

“A lot of clients come with health and weight-loss as their primary objectives, others are looking for stress-relief and peace or even a spiritual awakening.  No matter what your objectives are, The South Beach Detox affects you on all levels of your being and it will completely change the way you think about food and nutrition.', says Alessandrina Lerner, co-owner and director of The South Beach Detox.

Unlike other cleansing programs, the four-day detox offered by The South Beach Detox provides the benefits of a real fast without the nutritional deprivation and psychological consequences.  The cleansing program includes optimum nutrition through a live blue-green algae product that taste great and leaves you feeling completely satisfied and satiated.

The South Beach Detox is looking to improve the health and outlook of Miamians all across the board. By day four you'll full of energy, your skin will be glowing like never before and you'll feel a sense of ease and contentment that may have been missing thus far.  With our undivided attention and support, you'll make it through the program like a breeze and it will change your life forever.”

Ranging from just $99 for a home-based basic package up to $299 for a private package, the detox includes all the nutritional and cleansing supplies, yoga, breathing, mantra chanting, and meditation practices as well as a full-size manual and informative tracks to maximize your detox. Private options include one-on-one detox consultations with the detox expert, Fred Busch or Alessandrina Lerner. The education is priceless. Participants will learn about the benefits of cleansing and beyond. “We wouldn’t recommend it or provide it if we didn’t believe in it ourselves,” Alessandrina Lerner. “Being healthy and content is so much more than just not being ‘sick’ or 'depressed'– it’s about putting only the very best stuff into your body so you feel your best all the time.”

Food & Nutrition: 'Is Your Coffee Making You Fat?'

Food & Nutrition: 'Is Your Coffee Making You Fat?'
Dr. Weil's Daily Tips, January 30, 2011
Is Your Coffee Making You Fat.tiff
You may not be ready to give up the morning cup of coffee just yet.  No matter how unhealthy they may be, rituals are hard to break.  If that's the case but you still want to grow towards healthier and lighter habits, including cutting back on the volume of sugar and mucus-forming and fatt-filled dairy products. For more, read below.  For even healthier vegan alternative, visit our nutrition and recipes section online at www.thesouthbeachdetox.com

A cup of plain, black coffee has about 10 calories. But add milk, chocolate, whipped cream and other flavor enhancers and coffee-shop staples such as mocha lattes can contain more calories - and almost as much unhealthy fat - as a Big Mac.
When you consider that many people have these drinks daily, the total calorie intake can add up quickly. If you are not ready to give up coffee just yet but want to steer away from the sugar-laden, whole-fat versions, try these simple steps: you'll still get the flavor, but with less fat and calories.
1. Ask for skim rather than whole milk.
2. Skip the chocolate sauce and instead opt for a small piece of high-quality dark chocolate on the side.
3. To enhance flavor without fat, add cinnamon (which may aid digestion), a dab of honey or a little sugar to a plain coffee.
4. Forgo the whipped cream.

The benefits of Fitness & Physical Exercise: 'Move More, Gain Less Weight With Age'

'High Activity Levels Over Time Reduce Weight Gain With Age', Study Finds

Dec. 14, 2010 -- Keep moving as a young adult and you will likely lessen the dreaded middle-age spread, according to a new study that focused on physical activity and weight gain over time.
'Young adults who maintained a high level of physical activity gained less weight in middle age', found researcher Arlene Hankinson, MD, an instructor of preventive medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of
Medicine in Chicago.
''Activity has an effect, but it doesn't completely eliminate age-related weight gain," she tells WebMD. 'But it does help', she finds, and the benefit appears greater for women, though she is not sure why.
Highly active women gained 13 pounds less over 20 years than women with low activity levels, while highly active men gained 6 pounds less than the men with low activity levels.

The study is published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
While some who hope activity can wipe out age-related weight gain may see the results as discouraging, Hankinson disagrees. "I think it's extremely optimistic news," she says. "It's showing how beneficial activity is in reducing weight gain with age."

Physical Activity and Weight Gain: The Study
Hankinson evaluated 3,554 participants in the CARDIA study, an ongoing study that now has 20 years of follow up.
Participants were ages 18 to 30 at the start of the study. They answered questions about activity at follow-up exams done after two, five, seven, 10, 15, and 20 years.
Hankinson evaluated weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference. She took into account such factors as age, alcohol use, and calorie intake.
She looked at the differences in activity levels in two ways: by comparing those in the top level of activity with those in the lowest level and by evaluating those who got 150 minutes or more of moderate to vigorous intensity activity a week. (The 150 minutes of moderate activity is recommended by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.)
When she compared the high activity group with the low? "Women who had low activity gained 33 pounds over the 20 years while women who had high activity gained 20 pounds over the 20 years," she says.
"Men who had low activity gained 28 pounds over the 20 years and men who had high activity gained 22 pounds over the 20 years."
Only 11% of the women and 12% of the men in the highest activity group at the study start kept it up over the 20 years. Over the 20 years, nearly 37% met the 150-minute a week goal.
When she looked at the 150-minute a week group, she found "women who didn't have 150 minutes of physical activity a week gained 32 pounds over 20 years; women who did gained 22 pounds. Men who didn't get 150 minutes gained 29 pounds; men who did gained 26 pounds."
Those in the high activity group also had smaller gains in waist circumference with age.
Physical activity included not just sports and other formal exercise but also occupational activity and home maintenance.
''Physical activity is something everyone can do in some form," Hankinson tells WebMD.

Move More, Gain Less: Second Opinion
The new study findings are scientifically sound and are important, says Tim Church, MD, PhD, director of preventive medicine research at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La. He reviewed the study findings for WebMD but was not involved in the research.
"It brings some more balance to the discussion [about the obesity epidemic],'' he says. Often, people zero in on food only, he says. "Here's more evidence that physical activity clearly has a role in preventing weight gain. The optimal way to control weight is both through diet and physical activity."
The link found by Hankinson between lesser weight gain among highly active people may be more encouraging than at first glance, he says. He points out that the study followed them only to ages 38 to 50. "I would expect to see bigger group differences [between low and high activity groups] as the groups continue to age," he says.
Minimizing weight gain is just one reason to stay active with age, he says. "You are going to be able to get around easier" if you stay active with age, he says.

Food & Nutrition: The Benefits of Fiber for Weight-Loss, a Healthy Heart and Energy Levels

Food & Nutrition: 'Dietary Fiber and Weight-loss: The Benefits of Fiber for Your Heart, Weight, and Energy"
WebMD Feature by Kathleen M. Zelman, MPH, RD, LD
Reviewed By Brunilda Nazario, MD

Following a higher-fiber diet will not only be extremely healthful and sensorily satisfying for you but it will also help you shed or keep away the extra pounds a more processed diet may have put on you.  For more on the health and overall benefits of a high-fiber diet, read the WebMD feature below.

High-fiber Diets and Weight Loss
If you’re overweight and want some help losing weight, start eating foods high in fiber. Dietary fiber is not a magic weight loss weapon, but it has the power to help fill you up without filling you out.
Here’s why: One of the most effective ways to lose those extra pounds is to control hunger, the dieter’s Achilles heel. Hunger is affected by many things, including when you eat, and the composition of your meals -- the amount of fats, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, and water content.
Eating healthy high-fiber foods makes you feel full, so you can resist eating more food than you need. Fibrous foods also can take longer to chew, giving your brain time to get the signal that you have had enough to eat.
Read on to learn about losing weight by eating a high-fiber diet.

How Dietary Fiber Helps Weight Loss
'Studies show that most people eat about the same weight of food each day', says Barbara Rolls, PhD, author of The Volumetrics Eating Plan. If you choose high-fiber, water-rich foods -- such as broth-based vegetable soups, salads, fruits, and vegetables -- instead of foods without fiber and water, you can eat the same weight of food but feel full on fewer calories.
A 2009 study in the journal Appetite compared the satiety or fullness factor of apples, applesauce, and apple juice with added fiber before lunch. People who ate an apple before lunch ate 15% fewer calories than those who ate the applesauce or drank apple juice. This suggests that the fiber in the whole apple was more filling even when compared to the juice that had added fiber.
Beyond the fiber content, crunching and chewing a whole piece of fruit stimulates your senses and takes longer to eat. So psychologically, it may also be more satisfying than beverages or soft foods. Chewing also promotes saliva and the production of stomach juices that help fill the stomach.

Fiber at Breakfast Is a Healthy Weight Loss Habit

In its tracking of the eating habits of successful dieters -- those big losers who have kept weight off for years -- the National Weight Control Registry has found that most eat breakfast regularly. And cereal is one of their morning rituals. 'In general, eating cereal -- especially high-fiber cereals -- is beneficial for weight loss', says fiber expert Joanne Slavin, PhD, RD, a professor at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul and member of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. “Studies that look at what people eat show those who eat more carbs, more fiber, and cereal in general weigh less than those who eat less fiber, carbs, and cereal.”

How Much Dietary Fiber Do You Need?

Most women should get at least 25 grams and most men 38 grams each day to gain all the health benefits of fiber, according to the Institute of Medicine’s Dietary Reference Intake. The problem is that most Americans get only about half that when not on a diet and even less when dieting, especially on low-carb diets. Tufts University researcher and professor of nutrition Susan Roberts, PhD, has shown that people who eat 35 to 45 grams of fiber a day are less hungry when losing weight and lose more weight than people who eat less fiber. (But beware of consuming fiber as a bulk laxative; it can sap your body of needed nutrients and vitamins.) “There is no downside to eating a diet rich in fiber,” Slavin says. “And the potential health gains are significant.”

Does Type of Fiber Affect Weight Loss?

Fibers come in a variety of forms:

Fiber is either soluble or insoluble: Soluble dissolves in water, insoluble does not. Both of these types are fiber are found naturally in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts.
“Dietary” fiber refers to the fiber found naturally in the foods that we eat.
“Functional” fibers such as inulin are added to packaged foods to boost their fiber content. These fibers are isolated or extracted from a plant or animal source, or they are manufactured.

Although all fiber is healthy, research indicates that fiber from whole foods may aid weight loss the most – likely because those high-fiber foods are also low in calories. “As a registered dietitian, I always say ‘food first,’” Slavin tells WebMD. “No one fiber is perfect, so eating a wide variety of fibers is the perfect solution to gain all the health benefits of fiber,” Slavin says. “Not only will you trim your waistline with a high-fiber diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts, but also reduce the risk for heart disease, diabetes, obesity, diverticulitis, and constipation."

Add Fiber Calories Wisely and Slowly

Slowly adding more fiber to your diet can avoid bloating and gas by giving your body time to adapt. It is also important to drink plenty of liquids while increasing fiber. Try these tips for adding more low-calorie foods to your meal plan to boost fiber while keeping calories in check:

  • Eat whole fruits instead of fruit juice.
  • Snack on veggies.
  • Make vegetables a main course.
  • Add a filling vegetable salad instead of a starchy salad as a side dish with meals.
  • Enjoy a bowl of vegetable-based broth soup before meals.
  • Start the day with a high-fiber cereal topped with fruit and low-fat dairy.
  • Eat more beans.
  • Make all your grains whole and limit them to a few servings each day.
  • Add nuts and seeds to your weight loss plan, but keep the portions small because they are high in fiber and calories.
Experts are quick to point out that fiber alone won’t peel off the pounds. You still need to eat a healthy, calorie-controlled diet and get regular physical activity. But controlling or maintaining your weight is easier with a diet rich in fiber.

The Need For Detox: 'Detox for a Sexier You'

'Detox for a Sexier You'
Seattle Balanced Body, by Katherine Branigan, NTP, MSA
There is nothing sexy about bad breath, body odor and skin issues.  Detoxing is the way we can eliminate these.  It  cleans our bodies from the inside out.  It is also the way the body heals itself - an internal cleansing process that takes place continuously. Detoxification is the process of cleaning, nourishing, and resting the body.  That means more energy for play. Detoxification is not a new science. Purification processes have been around for thousands of years.  Techniques to enhance cleansing include fasting, special foods/diet, herbs, water, rest, meditation, exercise, and a variety of bodywork techniques.  Detoxification occurs on many levels.  Physically this process assists the body in clearing congestion, illnesses, and disease potential, while improving energy.
Emotionally, detoxification processes help uncover feelings, especially hidden frustrations, anger, resentments or fear, each which can cause illness.  While spiritually cleansing, many people experience new clarity and/or an increased awareness about their purpose in life.
Sometimes we want to both physically and emotionally runaway from life.  At this point most of us need to start with a physical detox, although emotional and spiritual are important components.  It is easier to identify the physical needs and stresses of the body. These stresses affect our ability to handle emotional stress and spiritual growth.  It can seem overwhelming, especially when the boss is on the rampage or even worse multiple co-workers or employees.  The body creates toxins when it is stressed or in polluted environments, like cities.  Are you tired of hearing all the problems with today’s life?  Well the truth is, your body produces toxins no matter what.  They can be from even the healthiest food we eat or cleanest air we breathe.  It is just a part of the way our body
functions.  A healthy body can do a pretty good job of cleaning itself up.  It has done so for centuries.  The problem is two fold.  First most of us aren’t all that healthy and secondly we have so much exposure to unnatural toxins from man made comforts that we overwhelm our bodies.

So what can we do?  Focusing on a specific area of clean up is easier than attacking the whole thing at once.  I am sure there are areas in your environment that you can clean up; but, let’s focus on what we put in our body’s.  There are chemicals and additives in the food we eat.  The water supply is not the cleanest yet water comprises 60 % of our total body.  Drinking clean water equivalent to at least half our body weight in ounces will do a lot to help with detoxification as well as helping cut down on hunger.  It is common to mistake the need for water, as hunger.  Eating when we truly need water causes many health concerns, including aging.  A part of aging and toxicity is the body not digesting the food we eat and that creates more toxins and speeds aging.  So how do we slow down this aging and toxicity process?

Let me briefly describe how the body cleans itself up so you can understand the importance of the next step.  The physical body cleans things up in two phases.  Phase I detoxification uses enzymes (ex. cytochrome P450) to break down toxins into intermediate, yet often more toxic, metabolites.  At this point, some simple toxins are ready for elimination, such as caffeine.  However, most toxins require a second (phase II) cycle before they are neutralized enough for elimination.  At this stage these intermediate toxins or metabolites are actually more toxic because they are so volatile.  If not eliminated from the body in a timely fashion they can cause more damage than the original toxin.  These metabolites when properly bound are ready for elimination and exit the body through the:
colon as feces, kidneys as urine, skin as sweat, lungs as carbon dioxide, cardiovascular system via blood, and lymph to be filtered.  If any of these exit paths are slowed or stopped, the body actually can become ill because these toxins are like poison to the body.  Because exercising is one way to help release toxins into the blood stream for elimination, this is why some people after exercising get a sick feeling.  As you can see drinking plenty of water to flush the body is essential for good health.  This is also why dehydration becomes such a serious toxic issue.  70% of the population is chronically dehydrated and don’t even know it.  Exercising to enhance sweating and circulation and increased water intake are two of the simplest ways to assist your body in detoxing.
Exercising three to five times a week for a minimum of 20 minutes is great.  Other things you can do are: drink less caffeine containing beverages since they are diuretic, stop or cut down on smoking and alcohol consumption and reduce junk food and sugar intake.
Improving the quality of your meals is a great beginning to the process of body detoxification.

Now let’s take detoxing to the next level.  Every one should make sure their digestion and general bodily functions are open and functioning well before doing an intense cleansing.  If the body is stressed with the daily build up, releasing trapped toxins could make things worse if the elimination channels are not open.  So if you do not have daily bowel movements, take care of that first.  It is a huge detoxification factor.  Only then are you ready to make serious changes in your diet and “clean out”.  Bowel movements can be
increased through fiber or herbals.  If you have a history of slow transit time, see a health care professional.  This is a serious issue that is often the precursor for many diseases and allergies.

I recommend choosing a time to start detoxing when you can rest if necessary.  Usually a Friday or weekend is a good starting time, as the first couple days can be rough both emotionally and physically depending on your toxicity level.  The best way to start your first deep cleansing is to change your diet for 3-7 days.  Don’t try to fast on your initial detox.  Start by eating only fresh vegetables, fruits and brown rice.  Eat as much as you like.  Don’t go hungry.  You can steam or sauté your veggies.  The rice can be stir fried or steamed.  Use olive oil or flax oil (up to 2 T. daily ), vegetable and Celtic sea salt, vinegar, culinary spices, naturally fermented soy sauce or tamari, for seasoning.  I don’t recommend a fruit juice fast or the famous lemonade diet for a first detox either,
as they can be very hard on the body.  If you want to use a detox protein powder to help you stabilize your energy, visit your health food store or your nutritional health professional to choose a quality product.  These powders can help you from feeling detox symptoms.  Also if you are on any medications or have other health concerns check with a health care profession to determine if there are any extenuating health concerns.

What are detox symptoms?  Possible reactions fall in three categories:  digestive reactions, such as diarrhea, allergy-type reactions, such as swelling, or rashes, or a healing crisis which is a flare up of the symptoms you are trying to fix.  These all can come on strong and then usually fade as the healing occurs.  This is phase 1 of detoxing, the release accelerated.  The phase 2 then cleans up the complex toxins.  Some common symptoms of phase 1 detox are: headache, fatigue, offensive body odor, hunger, sleep issues, bad breath, itchy skin, irritability, and increased gas.  You can see why a weekend is a good time to start.  Water, light exercise and plenty of rest are essential in supporting the body through this stage.  Taking antioxidants (vitamins A, C, E) can assist clearing toxins and help with headaches.  If your colon shuts down or slows take immediate action to relieve the bowels.  Remember these toxins you are releasing are poisonous to the body and need to be eliminated rapidly.

At this point you may be asking, “Why would I do this to myself?”  Increased energy, vitality and stamina, reduction of allergic symptoms, improved digestion, better concentration, increased sexual performance, mental clarity, sense of calm and ease, resistance to
illness, slow aging, reduction of many chronic diseases and toxicity are some of the reasons.  So how do you know when enough is enough?  The key, according Dr. Elson Haas, is to individualize your program.  Look at the whole lifestyle picture to determine what you should do and for how long.  If you are unsure start slow and progress.  Some people start simply by making sure there are 12-14 hours of fasting from dinner to breakfast.  Others start by eliminating toxic foods either permanently or for the week prior to the bigger detox.  Once in a deep detox mode, when hunger returns, cleansing is done.

When returning to your normal diet, go slow.  Eat slowly, chew your food well and avoid processed or junk food.  Lifestyle changes are essential to maintain this new cleanliness.  So use this as a time to modify things.  It is better to detox slowly and as a lifestyle rather than hitting the body hard a couple times a year.  If you want to lose weight permanently, detoxing with life style changes is a great place to begin.   As always check with your health care professional before making any dietary or lifestyle changes.

The need to detox: The South Beach Detox launches a local detox program in London, UK

The South Beach Detox launches a local detox program in London, UK
Press Release, Friday, March 12, 2010
After a successful launch in the US, The South Beach Detox will be offering a local detox program in London, UK.
The intention behind The South Beach Detox program is to help people implement significant positive changes in their lives by employing simple but effective tools.  Through the practice of intelligent eating, proper exercise, good rest, and
awareness, you will learn to to create an environment for your body and mind to experience true well-being.  This is 4-Day Detox goes far beyond 4 days.  The South Beach Detox is in fact a training ground to teach you certain skills that can easily be employed in your daily life and that will bring tremendous results in the way of healthy, balanced and harmonious living.  Detox programs do not have to be difficult but require a certain level of effort to be successful.  The South Beach Detox was specifically designed with that in mind, i.e. to maximize the benefits, and mitigate the challenging parts, to the degree possible.  In order to gain the most out of your detox, your body has to get the deep rest that it needs and this requires a specific internal and external environment.  The South Beach Detox provides this environment with a perfect balance between exercise and rest.

Here are some general guidelines regarding detox programs to help you maximize your detox experience.

Detox programs are designed to give the body the conditions necessary for it to expel stored toxins and waste material throughout the whole body. This is accomplished through a two-fold approach consisting of reducing food intake and increasing
rest. This combination allows your body to use its vital energy in a direction other than the attempt to digest food which is the bodyʼs number one energy drain. When the body has access to this new found (not wasted) energy it uses it to clean itself.  That's exactly what the detox is.  You may find yourself feeling much more energized than usual during this time - especially after the second day, but donʼt drain yourself in Yoga practice during this time. Spend more time resting in childʼs pose during your sequence and go into relaxation pose sooner if you feel the need to.  Listen to your body, the primary intention during The South Beach Detox is to conserve energy so the body can use it for cleansing itself.  Throughout these four days please take as many naps as possible and avoid any unnecessary social engagements or demands on your time and attention. This special time of detox is just for YOU!  So enjoy our organic nutritious energy drinks, detox yoga sequence, the guided meditations specifically designed to let you go within and support your detox, and the time for yourself.  We make ourselves fully available to you during this period of change and transformation.  Living free of patterns and habits is very liberating, so enjoy taking this opportunity to give your body and mind a deep cleanse.

FAQs on The South Beach Detox

Can I work during this Detox?
Yes. The South Beach Detox is specifically designed to create the perfect detox environment while allowing you to continue to work as usual.  It is a non-invasive detox that will allow you to function normally in your daily life.  However, remember to rest more than usual and avoid all unnecessary social engagements.
What is a Detox and Why Does it Work?
Detox of the Body is initiated through the limitation of caloric intake which allows the body to focus on cleansing rather than digesting. Digestion is one of the biggest energy drains in our regular life.  The extra energy that is freed through the detox is used by the body to cleanse itself. This detox program is structured so that your body receives optimal nutrition in the context of caloric restriction.  This combination of deep nutrition and body cleansing is a potent tool for transformation.

Tips for Detox: So, You're Thinking About A Body Detox Are You?

Before you just jump in and attempt to detox your body, there are some specific things you should consider.  The big question that you should ask yourself first is ‘why am I wanting to do this detox?’  Now, there are very good reasons to do a cleanse, but no reason should trump doing it safely.  So, before you even get started, you need to

Losing weight is just one reason that you may be interested in a body detox.
have a good answer to the question ‘why do one?’ in the first place.  If you think that you can just follow some way a friend mentioned, then you might want to read on.  Because of the shift in mindset toward more alternative and natural ways of health and well being, many people just like you are asking these same questions about colon cleanses and body detox programs.  Unfortunately, there are also people that are out to make a quick buck from the trend so you have to be cautious about how you go about getting your information.  Hopefully, as you browse our site, you can get some information that will help you learn how to detox with more care.
How Much Is There To Know About Cleaning Out Your Colon?
Much is out there in the way of colon cleansing products and herbal supplements to help you get the most out of your chosen plan.  If you know specifically what products you are looking for, that makes your online search much easier.  Colon cleansing products run a wide range of goals.  Some are for general detoxification of every day toxins like pollution and from what we put into our bodies through our diet.  Others claim to detox your body from heavier and longer-term toxins like drugs, agricultural residues and even heavy metals.  The heavy metal detox programs are for metals like lead and cadmium and are typically sold as ‘chelating products’.  Chelation is the term used in the professional field that relates to the removal of heavy metals from the blood and body tissues. It is usually done through intravenous (IV) type drips and requires continued sessions to fully cleanse your body.  The problem is that these will also leach other important minerals from your body and that is why it is recommended that you only do this type of process with medical supervision.  You don’t want calcium and other substances being leached from your bones do you?  Didn’t think so.  There are suppositories that offer claims of chelation as well.  They do actually have some merit to them, you just have to get the correct ones.
Answering The “How To Detox” Question Can Be Complicated
As you’ve been reading, there are many definitions of “body detox”.  This is why there is not one answer to the question.  What one person deems the ultimate detox turns out to be someone else’s lunch every day.  Then there is the problem of getting the wrong answers because you ran across someone’s rant online about  a particular supplement or program they hated and here’s why, blah blah blah.  Don’t get sucked into that.  Find the answer you are specifically looking for and move on.  There is precious little time for you to be wasting it reading on and on about someone’s colon health or some celebrities latest fasting drama.  Side note:  fasting and juicing can both be great steps as part of a healthy detox.  In fact, juice fasting for wellness is something that you can do for life.  You’ve found a site here that has good and reliable information about how to detox your body.  Hopefully, the general range of information guides you toward your ultimate path of a cleaning body and a cleaner life.

THE SOUTH BEACH DETOX: A CURE TO EATING DISORDERS?

THE SOUTH BEACH DETOX AND EATING DISORDERS

“The South Beach Detox”: “A cure for Anorexia?”
PRESS RELEASE - MIAMI YOGA, October 2010
“A South Beach Yoga Studio develops a detox program that could hold the key to cure millions of young sufferers, mostly females, of Anorexia.”

While The South Beach Detox was not originally developed with curing Anorexia in mind, it most definitely has the potential to do so. The South Beach Detox is essentially a cleansing program which main objective is to bring both body and mind to a state of perfect balance, ultimately promoting health, mental stability and vitality.  Through the combination of a flawless nutritional approach, a highly effective yoga sequence, and a supportive awareness meditation program, the recipients of The South Beach Detox experience a powerful personal transformation that melts away all conditioned responses and unhealthy habits embedded in their old personality, leaving space to create the New.
“The synergetic effects of the components of The South Beach Detox literally propel you to the next level of performance on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels!”, says Yoga Master, Fred Busch, creator of The South Beach Detox,  who enthusiastically adds, “It’s not just that you’re feeding your body with the most perfect food on Earth, creating the perfect balance between exercise and rest according to your body’s needs, or that you are aware of the state of perfect bliss you access when you really listen and heed your body’s inner intelligence, it’s that you’re doing it all together!  And, that doing it all together is what transforms you into this powerhouse of endless energy and equanimity.  Anybody who has experienced the magical metamorphosis of The South Detox bears witness that it partakes of the principles of Alchemy!”
Because The South Beach Detox integrates all the elements necessary to “re-create” a person from scratch – i.e. at the cellular level, it is most suited for people suffering from conditions resulting from deeply-rooted complexes and mental impressions that may already have crystallized themselves, not just on the mental but also the physical level of their being, such as in the case of Anorexia.
Ranked #1 Superfood by renowned health authorities, the E3Live supplements, which form the foundation of The South Beach Detox, represent the highest quality food we can bring to our body.  This, of course, constitutes one of the fundamental benefits of The South Beach Detox when it comes to Anorexia. Because in such extreme cases the body is so severely undernourished, or even often starved, bringing it a perfect food like E3Live immediately restores its vital balance.  Appeased, the body is now able to relax and allow the remainder of the miracle to start unfolding.  The combination of a healthy exercise plan and a perfectly orchestrated “spiritual awakening” program dissolves any trace of resistance, leading to a full surrender where the recipients start to truly respond to their nutritional needs at the cellular level.  Soon, the appetite increases, but because the food intake is intelligent and healthy, the weight gain takes place at a very slow pace, which proves much more manageable psychologically in the case of Anorexia.  Finally, the obsessive preoccupation with body weight, food intake, and excessive exercising disappears and, free of fear, the sufferers of Anorexia are able to start moving towards their natural body weight without a second thought.
Alessandrina Lerner, a recovering Anorexic, who participated in The South Beach Detox and was so enthralled by the results that she is now working with Fred Busch to disseminate the program says, “I struggled with Anorexia for over 20 years, bouncing from Therapists to Recovery Programs, AA Meetings to various Support Groups without success, then I attended the Yoga Teacher’s training with Fred Busch.  Through an intelligent and balanced approach to nutrition, exercise/ rest, and a deep awareness of the processes involved in my unhealthy eating habits, I soon found myself empowered to change all my habits and put an end to the vicious cycle I had fallen victim to.  As I watched in awe the personal transformation occurring within my body and mind, soon emerged the butterfly that had been trapped in its cocoon for so long.  Thanks to The South Beach Detox®, I am finally free of Anorexia, I am moving towards a healthy body weight and I’ve never felt so good inside both my body and my mind.”
How ironic that what could possibly be the cure for Anorexia would be conceived in the heart of South Beach, renowned headquarters for the Modeling industry, a sector long plagued by the disease, and where it may most likely continue to develop if industry standards don’t change.
Regardless of whether or not it is the miracle cure so many sufferers of Anorexia have been waiting for, it is without a doubt the most wholesome and effective detox program anyone could ever hope for!

“Could The South Beach Detox be Key in Ending the Eating Disorders
and Unhealthy Eating Habits that Plague the Fashion Industry?”
PRESS RELEASE - MIAMI YOGA, November 2010
Miami Beach, FL - There is no question that competition in the Modeling Industry is extremely fierce.  The pressure which often ensues from what are, essentially, unrealistic expectations relating to physical appearance and standards of beauty can push models into a daily battle with their body and weight, ultimately leading to unhealthy relationships with food, constant dieting and, in some cases, Anorexia.   Recent headlines have denounced tragic stories of models who lost their battle to Anorexia; prompting designers and fashion industry leaders to rethink acceptable weight standards on the runway.

With the danger of eating disorders in the spotlight, now seems the perfect time to educate and empower aspiring and professional models to form long-lasting healthy relationships with their body and mind.  The South Beach Detox®, a full-fledge cleansing program designed by Yoga Master, Fred Busch, owner of Miami Yogashala, and which aims at restoring balance on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels, could be instrumental in achieving such results.  While The South Beach Detox is a generic program intended for anybody who wishes to attain perfect health, mental equanimity and vitality, it could be key for models seeking to stay runway ready while keeping in perfect balance.  Because The South Beach Detox is highly effective and personal, it can be completed in just 4 days, with total flexibility to fit in a busy schedule.  Simple, non-invasive, and extremely successful in re-establishing healthy eating habits it is particularly well suited for the busy professional working in the fast-paced fashion industry.
“When I first came up with The South Beach Detox concept, I didn’t have any specific target audience in mind.  I still don’t!”, says Fred Busch.  He goes on to explain, “What makes The South Beach Detox so successful and powerful is that it is non-specific.  The primary objective of the program is not to cure a particular ailment but rather to restore balance on all levels of one’s being.  Once that’s been achieved, what room is there for any mental or physical manifestations of any kind?  Dis-ease and illnesses are all rooted in imbalance.  You take out the imbalance, i.e. the root cause of the problem, and the symptoms inevitably disappear!  It’s that simple and clean-cut!  And that’s what makes the program so effective!”
Simple and clean-cut, indeed, yet extremely comprehensive!  Consisting of three key elements, The South Beach Detox® addresses all levels of one’s being.  A highly effective line of nutritional and potent Detox products coupled with healthy food choices caters to the physical aspect, a well established and successful yoga sequence supports the first dimension while also addressing the mental and spiritual elements, and an awareness meditation program specifically tailored to act on all levels, and ultimately break down all emotional attachment to food, reinforces all the benefits gained through The South Beach Detox.  This complete integration, together with one-on-one pre- and pos-detox support provided to clients in an effort to help them implement long-lasting changes in their daily life, is the reason why The South Beach Detox® is so successful in restoring balance and continues to have positive effects well after the four-day program has ended!  That’s what makes The South Beach Detox® so different to any other program; because it truly benefits all dimensions of one’s being and its benefits are there to stay!
